Introduction, about me

Hey y'all!
My name's Emily and I am an international studies grad student, a home and business furnishing consultant by day, and a community organizer at heart.
I wanted to start a blog to encourage myself to write more and to connect with others that care about the same things I do. I am particularly passionate about the little seemingly insignificant pieces of everyday culture that affect the macro-culture of communities, states, countries, and the world. Things like books, religion, movies, music, celebrities, interior design, food, language, and customs.
I care deeply about political theory, and find it reassuring that in every generation, there have been people fighting the same good fight that we are and we can always draw on their experiences and successes to propel us forward.
This is a pro-progressive South zone. I come from a long line of Texans who have fought for the rights of the many to create a better South for us all. I've put my blood, sweat, and tears into electing those that represent the Texas I know and love.
I am learning more about interior design and always applying it to my studies in micro-culture to better understand the reasons why people choose to live the way that they do. I take my employer IKEA's mission statement to heart; "to build a better everyday life for the many people."
